Greatly Exagerated

We are not dead, just busy busy busy.

Our Editor in Chief, Noizy, is working day and night on a large proposal for work which actually pay him money and Sideline Mike, who runs the feed, is over in England at the moment.

Regular service will resume soon, we promise.

England lose, un-invent cricket. World Cup thrown into chaos

From Sports Review NZ...
SRNZPA: In a bold move, England un-invented Cricket following their crushing nine wicket defeat at the hands of South Africa.

"I'm absolutely devastated" responded Malcom Speed, unemployed. "One or two results have gone against England, and they've made what must have been an extremely tough decision. We'd bought the finest around to the Carribean for a carnival of Cricket, now we've just got a bunch of guys in tracksuits buying duty free booze. It's a nightmare."

Former Cricketers may not be out of a job if Saatchi & Saatchi Chief Executive Kevin Roberts' planned breakaway sport "Loveball" gets off the ground. "Oh boy, I am super, super stoked! You guys are gonna love it! I haven't been this excited since the Gillette Fusion razor! Woooooooo! Yeah! Woooooooo!" enthused Roberts before spontaneously exploding.

The Dropkicks - 2007 - Episode 12

Sorry - very late this week, to the point of it now being next week already (and not in the Dropkicks time-travelling sense of next week - just late).

So, listen in amazement as we manage to make accurate predictions of the Super 14 round just completed! Wonder at our analysis of the Cricket World Cup! And be astonished at yet more feats of atheltic wonder in our Athletes of the Week!

Bonny Prince Willy

Snapped!

England supporting Prince William at an international rugby match wearing... a Team New Zealand yachting jacket! Traitor!

The proof is in the pudding, and the pudding in this case ... is a football.

The Dropkicks - 2007 - Episode 11

The usual hits and misses with our Super 14 analysis; some Cricket World Cup action; another why-stuff.co.nz-is-crap section; and perhaps the highest quality field ever for Athlete of the Week (not even featuring Roger Federer)!

msn.co.nz sports news - still crap, but working on it

So, sometimes this letter-writing lark seems to work. If only the IRB and SANZAR were as responsive as the guys behind the msn.co.nz website, which, as per previous reporting, has been featuring Australian sports and athletes on its NZ version of the MSN portal.

date: Mar 26, 2007 11:49 AM
subject: msn.co.nz sports feed

Hi there,

much as we here in NZ enjoy Australian sporting success, it might be more pertinent to have a sports news feed on the msn.co.nz homepage that concentrated on New Zealand sporting feats, as opposed to those of our neighbours across the Tasman.

eg. right now of the four stories on the homepage, there are no NZ-specific stories, and three that deal with Australian sports people and/or events....

Stoner rues moves: Australian Casey Stoner has overcome a slow start to finish fifth in the Spanish MotoGP behind five-time world champion Valentino Rossi.

Fowler falls short : American Jason Knutzon shot a final round six-under-par 66 to claim a one-shot victory over Australian Peter Fowler in the Motorola International Bintan.

Aussies' first gold: Australia's first gold medal at the FINA World Championships headlined the action in the women's swimming programme at Rod Laver Arena.

Any chance of getting you, or the sportal guys, to change that feed over to some a little more focussed on nz sport?

cheers,

James Guthrie

Hi James,

we're currently working on getting a more NZ focus to the sports stories. Please stay tuned.

Virtual Super 14 - Week 9 results

The Dropkicks collective still languish near the bottom of the pack, and Wrongun still sits firmly at the top. Mike has now leapfrogged Dom to leave the Mallet as the bottom-placed Dropkick, and Hadyn and Noizy continue to jostle for the top individual Dropkick spot near the top of the table, where Public Address's Russell Brown has slipped quietly into third place. Perhaps Russell got a few wise tips from Hadyn, Noizy and Che when he interviewed the Wellingtonista crew - which includes the aforementioned trio - for an upcoming radio show. Or perhaps not.
